The Ambassador Poetry Project welcomes submissions year-round from writers living in Ontario or Michigan. We will also consider submissions from writers and artists living elsewhere, but whose work draws attention to some aspect of Ontario and/or Michigan.

At present, there is no payment for publication as this is a self-generated project created by the editor with no foreseeable revenue sources. In the future, this may change but until then this project is merely a labor of love.

The Ambassador Poetry Project is a quarterly online periodical, published in September, December, March, and June of each year. Notifications will be sent once final editorial decisions are made for each issue. Please do not inquire as to the status of your submission. Unpublished and previously published works will be equally considered, but please identify works which have been published elsewhere so that proper credit may be given.

The Ambassador Poetry Project requests one-time, non-exclusive rights to publish works online for each issue. When a new issue is published, the online archive will continue to list the names and works of previous issues, but the work itself will no longer be publicly available. As a courtesy, we request a link and credit for works first appearing in The Ambassador Poetry Project and placed elsewhere at a later time.

Please read the Submission Guidelines carefully. No unsolicited attachments will be opened.

Important: Please include a short introductory note, and a brief author bio suitable for publication, with your submission. We want to know who you are, where you've published, and what area of Ontario or Michigan you live, work, or play in. Each contributor page will include a third-person bio on the website. Please remember to send this in with your submission. If you are previously unpublished, your bio may refer to your education as a writer, your artistic vision, or other relevant information. Visual artists, please provide the same sort of bio for inclusion on the website.

Submit up to six poems in the body of your email. Attachments will not be opened. All styles welcome.

Send your poetry with the subject line "poetry submission" to poetry@ambassadorpoetry.com.

Narrative works of up to 1,200 words will be considered provided it has poetic relevance with themes appropriate for The Ambassador Poetry Project. First-person narratives expressing artistic viewpoints and experiences are encouraged. Although this area is somewhat open to interpretation, please consider this as an opportunity to speak to the themes presented in The Ambassador Poetry Project, rather than a request for general non-fiction articles. Ideas may include a discussion on trends in regional poetry, artistic development within your community, analyses of commonalities of poetry across borders, or any number of relevant observations.

Submit no more than 1,200 words of narrative prose within in the body of your email, with the subject line "narrative submission,"
to narrative@ambassadorpoetry.com.

Book Reviews: Reviews of regional poetry books and interviews with Michigan and Ontario poets will occasionally be considered for the narrative section. If you would like to have your poetry book reviewed, please contact the editor with information about your release. If you wish to submit a review, first contact the editor to discuss the book you wish to review and suggest why it would make a compelling addition to the narrative section. In your introductory letter, please also mention any previous reviews you have published.

The Ambassador Poetry Project welcomes digital still artwork and photographs relevant to the poetic and regional themes presented within. No unsolicited attachments will be opened. Please send a link to your online portfolio, or to a page dedicated for preview, with the subject line "visual submission" to visual@ambassadorpoetry.com. Indicate which images you wish to be considered. Please be advised, a brief, third-person biography and an introductory note is requested for all submissions.
