M.L. Liebler

Across The Dark Blue

Through the anger of the ocean,
Tides of despair churn
Upon the beach of my stripped soul.

The moon follows me,
In loneliness, across the dark,
Blue waters of autumn where I am
A sinking ship sailing away
From the heart of a broken kingdom.

Floating towards the West,
I take the deserted sea
As my omen that I was
Meant to drown here
In the sorrowful noise
Of an empty future.

Still, tomorrow, I will again
Drag myself out
Of my sleep, and into
The deep waters
Of my past to attempt
To come alive--
A new vessel sailing towards
The twilight abyss of sky and hope.
